Ingredients
  

Cookie Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 egg large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp blood orange juice
  • 1 tbsp blood orange zest
Optional Glaze
  • 0.5 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp blood orange juice
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, vanilla extract, blood orange juice, and zest. Mix until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Drop dough by tablespoons onto baking sheets, flatten slightly.
  7. Bake 12–14 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft. Cool on wire racks.
  8. Optional: Mix powdered sugar, blood orange juice, and vanilla for glaze. Drizzle over cooled cookies.

Notes

Use fresh blood oranges for best flavor. Dough can be chilled for thicker cookies.
