Brownie Base
  • 0.75 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chopped
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.75 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cup cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Pecan Topping
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.75 cup corn syrup
  • 2 eggs large
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 tsp salt
  • 2 cups pecans halved

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Cool slightly.
  3. Whisk sugars into chocolate mixture, then add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until just combined.
  5. Spread brownie batter evenly into prepared pie dish.
  6. Whisk pecan topping ingredients except pecans until smooth.
  7. Fold in pecans and spoon topping over brownie layer.
  8. Bake 45–55 minutes until set. Cool completely before slicing.
