Ingredients
  

Shortbread Dough
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 0.75 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 oranges zested
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, salt, and cardamom in a bowl.
  3. Beat butter and powdered sugar until light and creamy.
  4. Mix in orange zest and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  6. Shape dough into a disk, score into wedges, and chill for 20 minutes.
  7. Bake 30–35 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool slightly, cut fully, and cool completely before serving.

Notes

Use freshly ground cardamom for the best flavor.
