Ingredients
  

Cake Batter
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 eggs large
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
Toffee Crunch
  • 1.5 cups toffee bits

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line cake pans.
  2. Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla.
  4. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk.
  5. Fold in toffee bits and divide batter into pans.
  6. Bake 25–30 minutes. Cool completely.
  7. Prepare frosting and assemble cake with toffee layers.

Notes

For extra flavor, drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
