Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz dried chipped beef chopped
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk warm
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper or to taste
  • 4 slices white bread toasted

Method
 

  1. Chop chipped beef into bite-size pieces. Rinse briefly if very salty.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Whisk in flour and cook 1–2 minutes.
  4. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  5. Stir in chipped beef and simmer 3–5 minutes.
  6. Season with black pepper. Serve over toast.

Notes

Taste before adding salt; chipped beef is naturally salty.
