Ingredients
  

Wonton Filling
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken or ground beef
  • 1.5 cups shredded Mexican-blend cheese
  • 0.5 cup black beans rinsed and drained
  • 0.5 cup corn kernels
  • 0.25 cup diced bell pepper or jalapeño
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 24 wonton wrappers

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Deep skillet or saucepan
  • Wire rack
  • Slotted spoon

Method
 

  1. In a bowl, mix chicken or beef, cheese, beans, corn, peppers, and spices.
  2. Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each wonton wrapper.
  3. Moisten edges with water, fold, and seal tightly.
  4. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep skillet.
  5. Fry wontons in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain on a wire rack and serve warm with dipping sauces.

Notes

Wontons can be baked or air-fried for a lighter option.
