Potato Base
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes cold
  • 1 cup shredded cheese mozzarella or gouda
  • 1 egg large
  • 0.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
Coating
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs panko preferred
  • oil for frying or baking

Method
 

  1. Mix mashed potatoes, cheese, egg, flour, and seasonings until combined.
  2. Shape mixture into finger-length sticks.
  3. Roll sticks in breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  4. Chill for 20 minutes for best texture.
  5. Fry, bake, or air-fry until golden and crispy.
  6. Drain briefly and serve hot with dipping sauce.

Notes

Use cold mashed potatoes for best results and avoid overhandling the dough.
