Ingredients
  

Cranberry Butter Base
  • 12 oz fresh cranberries rinsed
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup orange juice fresh preferred
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

Equipment

  • Crock pot or slow cooker
  • Immersion blender or blender
  • Measuring cups
  • Wooden spoon

Method
 

  1. Add cranberries, sugar, orange juice, orange zest, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and salt to the crock pot.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours, stirring occasionally, until cranberries burst and mixture thickens.
  3. Remove cinnamon sticks and blend mixture until smooth using an immersion blender.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and cook uncovered for 30–60 minutes until desired thickness is reached.
  5. Cool completely and store in jars in the refrigerator or freezer.

Notes

Adjust sugar to taste depending on cranberry tartness. Thickens further as it cools.
