Ingredients
  

Dough
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk warm
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg large
Lamination
  • 1 cup unsalted butter cold

Method
 

  1. Activate yeast in warm milk until foamy.
  2. Mix in sugar, butter, egg, salt, and flour to form dough.
  3. Knead until smooth and chill 1 hour.
  4. Laminate dough with butter using three folds, chilling between each.
  5. Shape into loaf, proof until puffy.
  6. Bake at 375°F until golden and flaky.

Notes

Keep butter cold for best lamination results.
