Ingredients
  

Pastry
  • 1 sheet puff pastry thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp lemon zest optional
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon zest.
  3. Roll puff pastry lightly and cut into 9 squares.
  4. Score a smaller square inside each piece to create a border.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon filling to each center.
  6. Brush edges with egg wash.
  7. Bake 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
  8. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Keep puff pastry cold for best rise. Add fruit preserves for variation.
