Method
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add egg yolk, vanilla, and lemon zest.
- Roll puff pastry lightly and cut into 9 squares.
- Score a smaller square inside each piece to create a border.
- Add 1 tablespoon filling to each center.
- Brush edges with egg wash.
- Bake 15–18 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
Keep puff pastry cold for best rise. Add fruit preserves for variation.
