Method
- Chill your coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 10-15 minutes.
- If rimming the glass, coat the rim with a simple syrup or schnapps and dip into crushed candy canes. Drizzle chocolate sauce inside if using.
- Fill a cocktail shaker ¾ full with fresh ice.
- Add the vodka, coffee liqueur, peppermint schnapps, cooled espresso, and optional peppermint extract to the shaker.
- Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until well-chilled and frothy.
- Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared chilled glass using a Hawthorne and fine-mesh strainer.
- Garnish with a few coffee beans and a mini candy cane. Serve immediately.
Notes
For the best foam, use very fresh espresso and shake with conviction. Adjust sweetness by using a drier coffee liqueur like Mr. Black or by adding a touch of simple syrup.
