- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Mix in buttermilk, sour cream, and vegetable oil until combined.
- Add dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Prepare chocolate swirl by mixing cocoa powder with hot water, then add powdered sugar.
- Divide batter; add chocolate swirl to half and mix.
- Layer vanilla and chocolate batter in the bundt pan, then swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake 45–55 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 10–15 minutes in pan, then invert onto a wire rack.
- Mix icing ingredients until smooth, add orange food coloring if desired.
- Drizzle icing over cooled cake and decorate with Halloween candies.
Notes
For best results, cool completely before icing. Use room temperature ingredients for a tender crumb.
